Effective immediately, water service to the entire Tyrone Townsite must be shut off.

The contractor working on the water-system replacement project damaged an existing water main. Crews are assessing the damage and working to complete the necessary repairs.

At this time, we do not know how long the outage will last. Please keep faucets closed and turn off irrigation systems while water service is unavailable.

Any flushing instructions or precautionary boil-water advisory, if required, will be announced separately after service is restored.

We understand the serious inconvenience this causes and appreciate the community’s patience while the emergency repair is completed.

Why must the entire townsite be shut off?

• One of the primary reasons TWWA is undertaking the approximately $6.9 million water-system replacement project is that the existing system cannot reliably isolate water service to individual areas. More than 90% of the townsite’s water valves are inoperable because of longstanding maintenance issues. Consequently, even a localized repair may require shutting off water service to the entire townsite.
• The replacement project will allow TWWA to isolate smaller areas during future repairs, significantly reducing the number of residents affected by a shutdown.
